March 27th, 2012
Meeting was called to order by President Kelly at 1:46 p.m. at the club house.
Secretary report – Carol - minutes were read and approved (no February meeting).
Treasurer report - Sue – we have a balance of $1328.98, paid Pauline $30 for rosters.
Telephone report – Mardell - nothing new to report.
Sunshine/Publicity report – Betty – sent cards to Rose in regards to her daughter’s health problems.
PWGA report – Jo – gave check to Sue for donations to Swing Club and Rich donated pack of golf balls. If anyone is interested in Super Seniors tournament, check handbook for entry forms/information. Any members interested in putting a team together for team qualifying need to have 4 members who are committed. By-laws for PWGA are being revised for next year and clubs will vote on dues. Jo will advise us when she gets more information. Also, she needs $2 sweeps money for Sherwood.
Rules - Vera - discussed incident at Fig Garden concerning spectators at area play days. In the future, no spectators are allowed at PWGA play days. Discussed cash payouts, and received information from USGA. Our current pay outs are legal.
Handicap – Lori - still have not heard about results of handicap testing for club license.
Website – Lori – suggested adding PWGA logo and link to our “About Us” page of our website. This way anyone interested in joining our club can learn more about our affiliation with PWGA.
Tournament - Pauline – greens will be aerated next week, so we will have no organized play. Members are on their own for golfing. Tee Time for April will be 8:00 a.m. Lori and Mary will hold a tournament for April.
Closest to Pin: 1st Vera and 2nd Sue.
Todays play: 1st Betty, 2nd Jo, 3rd Pauline, and 4th Letha.
Old business – discussed LLGC members guest day in June. Kelly has called and reserved tables and chairs. The theme will be red, white, and blue. Two people have called with interest in information on becoming members of our club. Major tournament information will be posted on the board at the club house. Kelly still needs job description sheets from current club officers.
New business - Sue’s husband Duncan is in remission from cancer. Great news! While on vacation, Kelly played in a scramble called “step aside scramble”. We should consider playing this type of scramble for one of our Tuesday tournaments. Barbara has decided to quit the club, and will send a letter explaining her decision in-depth. Everyone thanked Joan for providing today’s lunch.
Jo made motion to adjourn meeting, and Sue seconded the motion. Meeting was adjourned.
